The industry "breed" that were used in battery farms. they lay nearly every day, but not for long, which is why the often were killed after 1 year to 1.5 years of laying. "Lohman" & "ISA" are brand names. They have a good manner & are easy to keep .no real meat on the body, snood for eating,
great for converting more eggs from less feed

A cross from Rhode Island Red X Light Sussex hen. Ours are from great utility stock! like the Lohmans, but have black flecking on the neck, and have a black tipped tail, but don't tend to suffer from kidney problems, therefore are more likely to live longer, and lay for longer. A really funny & friendly character, and love to forage. fun to watch, hence fantastic for kids. Eat slightly more than Lohmans, but give great eggs
